All in place, the photographer has one last check of the screen. The image is enlarged and our attention is drawn to the smallest section of the bed, one pillow case sits slightly uneven with the pillow above it. We both agree an adjustment is needed, that done, I stand back and wait.
To get to this point, scores of variables and composition decisions have been made. The fall of the light through the window, the key light casting a glow on the perfectly pressed bed throw, the whiskey glass purposefully placed next to the hand bound notebook and days prior to this moment, conversations with the hotel marketing team to determine the hotel’s target audience, prop selection, time of day, all distilled to this half second of exposure.....the flash fires and we check the on-screen image, all is perfect.
We call the client for image sign-off. As they arrive and gingerly step through the myriad of cabling, props and lighting, we are greeted with a ‘wow’....job done...we move on to next shot.
It takes hours to create the perfect image, it takes just seconds for a potential hotel guest to decide if your hotel will provide the perfect escape.
